MORNING PRAYER
O God of all nations, we approach you out of gratitude and concern for our nation. As We reflect on its achievements, we are grateful that its heritage has become ours. We are grateful, too, for all who have labored to shape it to your will. Yet our gratitude for this heritage is matched by our concern for its perils. Pilot us, O God, through the treacherous waters, that we might do as well by our descendants as our ancestors did by us. We boast of being “one nation under God.” Help us, O Lord, to turn this proud claim into a true confession. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

LITANY
Let us meditate and remember that many have given their lives for our freedom…
Each year we give this tribute
Out of thankfulness and love
For your loyalty and courage
Virtues that set you above.

We’ll never forget you gave your all
That others can be free.
You paid the ultimate earthly price
Immortal you will ever be.

We walk the byways, streets of towns,
Country lanes, through parks
At ease, at peace, possible because
Of missions upon which you embarked.

When there is no setting sun
And tides stretch out o’er all the land
No birds to fly, no songs to sing
Then we’ll come and take your hand.

For now we won’t forget
An emptiness your parting left.
You gave you life in freedoms call
In God’s eyes you’re ever blessed.

CHILDREN’S MOMENTS
Something to think about…something to draw about…something to talk about:
What are you looking forward to most about going back to school?
What worries you about going back to school?
Say a prayer to thank God for the one and ask God to help with the other.

WORSHIP WITH TITHES AND OFFERINGS may be mailed to the church with thanks to you and our Lord. As you do so, pray, “All things come of thee of God, and of thine own have we given thee.”

BENEDICTION
Christ is lifted up, above all other names; therefore go out into the world in humility and peace,
living with courage, not repaying wrong with wrong.
Christ is at God’s right hand, therefore support the weak and respect everyone,
rejoicing as we serve the Lord Jesus.
May the blessing of the God of peace consecrate you, and keep you healthy in body, mind and soul,
and without shame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The One who calls you is faithful, and will certainly do this!
Amen!

POSTLUDE
